Forest Alton Hockenberry

Mr. Forest Alton Hockenberry, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 25, 2018, in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, September 28, 2018, at Piedmont Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Mike Edwards will officiate. Interment with Military Honors by the US Air Force will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12:45 pm Friday at Piedmont Baptist Church.

Mr. Hockenberry was born May 19, 1937 in Pittsville, PA. He was a son of the late Alton Forest Hockenberry and Lois Coan Hockenberry. He was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church and attended the Young at Heart Group of his church. Forest was known as a prankster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Faye White Sullivan Hockenberry; and brother, Donald David Hockenberry.

Mr. Hockenberry is survived by his wife, Arlene Nichols Hockenberry; two step-daughters, Vanessa Byers and husband Tommy of Meadows of Dan, VA and Dana Lucas of Fayetteville, TN; step-son, Mark Nichols and wife Toni of Prescott, IA; his "adopted daughter", Kim Hall; 15 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, Lucy.
