Mrs. Frances Burleyson Canupp Gaines, 71, a resident of The Country Home and formerly of Krimminger Avenue, Concord, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at First Assembly Worship Center. Pastor Fenton Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at West Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Assembly Worship Center. At other times they will be at the home of a son, Rocky Canupp, 425 Krimminger Avenue, Concord. Born July 12, 1934, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late D. W. Burleyson and Nancy Jane Morris Burleyson. She retired in 1979 from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital where she was a housekeeping supervisor. She was formerly employed as a weaving instructor at Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis. She was a member of Concord First Assembly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Canupp; and four brothers, Dub Burleyson, Zaboren Burleyson, Hazel Burleyson and Dossie Burleyson. Survivors include her husband, Charles W. "Charlie" Gaines, two sons, Rocky Canupp and wife, Pattie, of Concord and Lanny Canupp of Mt. Pleasant; a step-son, Kenneth L. Gaines of Daytona Beach, FL; a step-daughter, Kathy D. Osmer of Birmingham, AL; five sisters, Aleine Ridings of Cumming, GA, Juanita Burleyson of Enochville, Liddie Rayfield of Rockwell, Ruth Turner of Oakboro and Ruby Reise of Kannapolis; two brothers, Clone Burleyson and Clyde Burleyson, both of Concord; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to First Assembly Worship Center, 150 Warren C. Coleman Blvd., Concord, NC 28027 or Alzheimer's Association, Carolina Piedmont Chapter, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28125. Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis is assisting the family with arrangements.
