Frances Bennett Yates

Mrs. Virginia Frances Bennett Yates, 79, of 6449 Mooresville Road, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sam Crisp and the Rev. Eric Holley will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of her daughter, Sheila Helms, 340 Homer Corriher Road, China Grove. Born July 17, 1928 in Carnesville, GA, she was a daughter of the late Lemis Hall Bennett and Ethel Lunsford Bennett. She was educated in the Kannapolis City schools and retired from the Washcloth Department of Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills following 40 years of employment. She was a member of Kannapolis Church of God for 55 years. She loved working crossword puzzles and traveling with her family. She loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Mrs. Yates is survived by her husband of 50 years, George Ray Yates, whom she married, December 16, 1956; a daughter, Sheila Helms (Phil) of China Grove; one son, Roger Yates (DeShan) of China Grove; a brother, Howard Bennett (Hazel) of Landis; three sisters, Blondean Harrington (Dwayne)and Naomi Shue (Bob), both of Kannapolis, and Eva Holley (Steve) of Florida; granddaughter, Brooke Helms and grandson, Nicolas Helms.
