Fred Howard Jordan

November 30, 1940 — September 15, 2009

Fred H. Jordan, 68 of Enochville, died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Lexington Memorial Hospital in Lexington. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2009, at Bethpage United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jeff Coppley and the Rev. Duane Melton will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence. Born November 30, 1940, in Mooresville, to the late Quillar (Slim) and Augusta Bost Jordan, Fred was educated in the Cabarrus County School System. He graduated from Odell High School. Fred Jordan owned and operated one of the most respected businesses in the area, Kannapolis Exterminating from 1979 thru 2006. He was a member and past president of the N.C. Pest Control Association, and received a Life Membership award in January of this year. Before his declining health, he worked as a Realtor with Exit Realty. His community service included: Being an organizing member of the Enochville Fire and Rescue, he had volunteered since 1964 as a fire fighter and as an EMT-Intermediate. He had served as past president of both fire and rescue chief. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of Cabarrus County, Chairman of Membership Recruitment Committee, President of Kannapolis Intimidators Boosters Club, and Member of Kannapolis Chamber of Commerce. John S. Cox, President and CEO of the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce quoted of Fred, "During my first week on the job back in November 2001, Fred Jordan came to see me, offered inspiration, wisdom and commitment to work. In these last eight years he never failed to come through on promises he made. His inspiration was infectious and uplifting, his wisdom sound and purposeful and his commitment was unwavering. He served on the Chamber's Board of Directors, Chaired the Business Showcase Committee and led, as a Top Producer � year after year � in the chamber's Total Resource Campaign. He was a friend, mentor and leader to all." A long-life member of Bethpage United Methodist Church, he served several terms on the Administrative Board, Chairman of the Trustee's, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, Sunday School Teacher, Past President of the Methodist Men's Group and many other offices in the church. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Fred Jordan will be remembered for his smile and his kindness. He loved his family and he loved his church. He believed in honesty and handwork. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He loved his Lord. Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia Trull Jordan; two daughters, Theresa Jordan Duncan and husband Bill of Cornelius and Jacqueline Y. Jordan of Charlotte; a son, Michael E. Jordan and wife Carrie of Concord; two grandchildren, Quenten Jordan and Elizabeth Duncan; a sister, Gerene Jordan Butterfield and husband Roy of Shelby.
