Gene Harold Tyree, 70 of Mexico, MO, and formerly of Concord, NC, died Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Golden Living Center � Pin Oaks. Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis, with the Rev. James Pauley and Mr. Tyree's son, the Rev. Morris Tyree officiating. Burial with military honors will be Saturday at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Friday at the church. Gene was born Feb. 28, 1940 in Tabor City, N.C., the son of Robert Durant and Olivia Idell Ward Tyree. Mr. Tyree was a journeyman electrician and helped wire the nuclear plant in Callaway County in 1981. He was a Baptist by faith and loved to hunt and fish. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Tyree. Survivors include two sons, Marvin Tyree of Mexico, MO, and his daughter, Celena of Mexico/Columbia, MO and Morris Tyree and wife, Pam, and their children, Anna, Jonathan, Lydia and Rachel, all of China Grove, N.C. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
