George Atlas Aldridge, Jr.

Mr. George Atlas Aldridge, Jr., 81, of 3923 Centergrove Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2010, at the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at New Gilead Reformed Church. Pastor Jeff Richards will officiate. The body will lay in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Terri Lynn Arthur, 3070 Penninger Road, Concord. Mr. Aldridge was born December 4, 1928 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late George Atlas Aldridge, Sr. and Mary Bost Aldridge. He worked in textiles as a machine fixer and was a farmer. He was a member of New Gilead Reformed Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, one brother and two sisters. Mr. Aldridge is survived by four daughters, Tammy Gray and husband Jackie of Concord; Teresa "Cissy" Chavez and husband Julian of Rockwell; Terri Lynn Arthur and husband Woody of Concord; Toni Jean Yow and husband Ray of Concord; and two sons, Tim "Skinny" Aldridge and wife Jackie of Concord and Theron Aldridge and wife Angela of Rockwell; brother, Carl Aldridge of Concord; three sisters, Mary Evelyn Wilson, Janice Wilson and Becky Aldridge; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
