George Alexander Christy

George Alexander Christy, 86, of 4901 Lakewood Drive, Shallotte, and formerly of Kannapolis and Concord, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 16, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at Lady's Funeral Home. Born October 27, 1919, in Kannapolis, he was the son of the late Van Christy and Vada Honeycutt Christy. He was retired from the weave room of Fieldcrest-Cannon Mills. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Irene Willis Christy, who died in February 1991; and a granddaughter, Dannette Gibson. Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Christy Trexler and husband, Duane, of Shallotte; son, Mark Christy of Shallotte; three sisters, Estelle Verducci of Kissimmee, FL, Shelby Harwell of Kannapolis and Carol Horasain of Yorba Linda, CA; brothers, Troy Christy of Collegeville, PA and Leonard Christy of Stevens, PA; three grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
