George Washington Emerson

Mr. George Washington Emerson, Jr., 72, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at CMC-NorthEast in Concord.

A memorial service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Wade Easom will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Emerson was born May 8, 1941 in Mecklenburg County. He was a son of the late George Washington Emerson, Sr. and Mildred Riggins Emerson. In his earlier years, he worked in management for both Hardee’s and McDonald’s. Afterwards, he worked for and retired from Americhem. He was a self taught computer engineer and was helpful in programming the computer systems for Americhem in Ohio and Texas. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to the beach and listening to beach music.

Mr. Emerson is survived by his wife, Sue Ritchie Emerson; four daughters, Virginia E. Eden and husband Todd of York, SC, Robin E. Sinclair and husband Jamie of Davidson, Lisa E. Coble and husband Scott of Jacksonville, FL and Beth E. Alvarnas and husband Chris of Landis; two sisters, Louise Kirkpatrick of Rock Hill, SC and Suzanne Cronquist and husband Russell of Alexandria, VA; brother, Charles Emerson and wife Kim of Tamarac, FL; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful canine companion, Rusty.
