George L. Kiser Jr.

July 10, 1942 — October 1, 2022

George L. Kiser, Jr., a life-long resident of Kannapolis, died unexpectedly in his sleep early on Saturday morning, October 1, 2022. He was born on July 10, 1942, to G. Leon and Sarah Anna Bland Kiser. He was a graduate of A. L. Brown High School and NC State University.

He began his business career in the Cannon Mills Data Processing Department, going from there to IBM, first as a programmer and then as a Sales Rep. In the early 70’s he began a career in Real Estate as a broker, then specialized in residential development and construction. He leaves a legacy of neighborhoods in Kannapolis as the initiator of Cripple Creek, Lantern Green, Wentworth, Woodmoore and Kellswater Bridge. He was a past-president of the Concord-Kannapolis Board of Realtors.

Always active in the civic community of Kannapolis, he was a past president of the Kannapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Kannapolis Rotary Club and the Kannapolis Booster Club (loving every minute as a volunteer helper with the football team), and was instrumental in the effort to incorporate Kannapolis. He was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kannapolis, serving over the years as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, choir member, scout master and on numerous committees.

George was married to his high school sweetheart, Jane Dayvault Kiser. They celebrated their 61st anniversary in August.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a beloved sister, Barbara Jane Kiser McRorie. He is survived by his wife and children, Elizabeth Kiser Booker and husband Alan of Cary; George Leon Kiser, III (Lee) and wife Estella of Chicago; Matthew Dayvault Kiser and wife Kelly of Concord; ten grandchildren, Victoria Jane Mulch and husband Ben; Aaron David Norris and wife Amanda; Sarah Elizabeth Norris; Kiser David Norris; Nicholas Bayne Kiser; Christopher Nolan Kiser; Kaylah Ruiz; Anthony, Alex, and Adam Castro; three great grandchildren: Hyder and Owen Mulch; and Cooper Norris. He is also survived by a brother, Stephen B. Kiser (Jane); brothers-in-law Grant McRorie; Tom Dayvault (Judy); Lynn Dayvault, and numerous much-loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Kannapolis at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022, with Dr. Tom Cabaniss officiating. A reception will follow in Veteran's Park located beside the church.
