Mr. Gerald Douglas Honeycutt, 66, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at his home.
A graveside service with military rites will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Salisbury National Cemetery.
Mr. Honeycutt was born on November 1, 1945 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Shade Matthew Honeycutt and Beaulah Barnhardt Honeycutt. Gerald was a graduate of AL Brown High School class of 1963 and graduated from Wingate College and also UNC-Charlotte. He served in the US Army. He retired as a self-employed insurance adjuster. Gerald enjoyed watching ball games on TV and was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by daughter, Caroline Von helms and husband Todd of Richardson, TX; brother, Donald Honeycutt of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Hunter and Jake Von helms of Richardson, TX; special niece, Amy Mitchell and husband Travis and their children, Xavier and Knox Mitchell and Tyler Eller, all of Salisbury; special and close friend, Karen Cook of Kannapolis; and other family friends, Anita Honeycutt and husband Michael and their children, Jordan and Noah Loman and Savannah Honeycutt, all of Kannapolis and Julie Allred and husband David and their daughter Meredith, all of Concord.
