Mrs. Geraldine Cook Irby, 83, of 103 Evandale Road, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at her home following 8 weeks of serious illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Randay Foster and Rev. Duane Melton will officiate. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends form 5:30 to 6:45 Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Irby was born June 20, 1921 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Samuel E. Cook and Ethel Hancock Cook. She formerly worked at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital and UNC-Charlotte. She was a member of Bethpage United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Irby, Jr. Mrs. Irby is survived by a daughter, Carol Belk and her husband, Ralph, of Kannapolis; son, Michael Eugene Irby of Salisbury; sister, Linda Richards and her husband, Don, of Concord; three grandchildren, Tamesha Belk Overcash and her husband, Lynn, Jason Belk and his wife, Christy, Brian Irby and his wife, Wendy; four great grandchildren, Brianna Irby, Ross Irby, Bailey Elizabeth Overcash, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of Connor Jameson Belk.
