Gertrude Gearing Freeze

Gertrude Gearing Freeze, 75, of 435 Sylvan Road, China Grove, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be conducted at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Barrett will officiate. Interment will follow at Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of a son, J. C. Gearing, 445 Sylvan Road, China Grove. Born November 21, 1934 in Madison County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lewis W. Gearing and Clydie Scarborough Gearing. She formerly worked for Cannon Mills and China Grove Cotton Mill. She was an avid Bingo player. Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Hudson and husband, Rick, of China Grove; four sons, J. C. Gearing and wife, Rebecca, of China Grove, Jeffery Donaldson of the home, Doug Freeze and wife, Vickie, and Mike Freeze, all of Kannapolis; two brothers, C.D. Gearing and Herman Gearing, both of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren, Aaron Matthew Joyce, Christopher Austin Hudson, Wendy James, J.C. Gearing, Jr., Cynthia Gearing, David Gearing, Wanda Sturgess and Carolyn Campbell; and four great-grandchildren.
