Gladys Elizabeth Read

Mrs. Gladys Elizabeth Conner Read, 94, a resident of Best of Care Rest Home in Kannapolis, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at Best of Care. The body will be taken from Lady's Funeral Home to Ames Funeral Home in Manassas, Virginia where a graveside service will be conducted Friday, November 28, 2003, at Cannon Branch Cemetery. The family is making headquarters at the home of a daughter, June R. Williams, 120 Tanglewood Drive in Kannapolis. Born June 23, 1909, in Manassas, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Kinsel Conner and Virginia Ellen Hockman Conner. Mrs. Read retired in 1971 from AAA in Washington, DC where she was employed for 20 years. She had lived in this area since 1990. Survivors include two daughters, June R. Williams and her husband, Bobby, of Kannapolis and Patsy Read of Chicago, IL; two brothers, Alvin Eugene Conner and Carroll Edward Conner, both of Manassas, VA; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
