Grace Rebecca Burgess Prevette

Mrs. Grace Rebecca Burgess Prevette, 102, formerly of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at her residence.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Friday, March 3, 2017, at Mountlawn Memorial Park in North Wilkesboro. Rev. Joe Mullis will officiate.

There will be a gathering of friends at 5:00 pm Sunday at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Prevette was born September 28, 1914 in Wilkes County, NC. She was the daughter of the late Jane Absher Burgess and Robey Harrison Burgess. She attended Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Charlotte. Grace enjoyed gardening and walking through the neighborhood. She loved spending time with her entire family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Wade Houck, Burl Barkley, Marvin Wilson and Worth Prevette; brother, Arthur Burgess; and three sisters, Geneva, Ora and Della.

Mrs. Prevette is survived by daughter, Margaret Brumfield of Charlotte; son, Don Houck of North Wilkesboro; brother, Jack Burgess of North Wilkesboro; four grandchildren, Debbie Hill, Pam Jones, Mike Brumfield and Donna Combs; seven great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
