Mr. Guy Ray Mullis, 77, passed away at his home Saturday, September 24, 2011, after two years of declining health with a lung disease, Pulmonary Fibrosis, surrounded by his family. A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Barnhill will officiate. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mr. Mullis was born November 11, 1933 in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late J. C. Mullis and Mary Taylor Mullis. He was an over the road truck driver for twenty plus years with companies such as Hennis and Akers. The last thirty years he worked for himself as owner/operator of Guy's Car Sales. Guy loved talking with and helping people. He enjoyed auctions and flea markets talking with people and looking for bargains. He also enjoyed farming, fishing and working on cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, J.C. "Bud" Mullis and Bill Mullis and sister, Cloe Cline McLain. Mr. Mullis is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Rose Shrewsbury Mullis; daughters, Debbie Kimberlin of Concord and Tina Haynes and husband, Mike of Kannapolis; son, David Mullis and wife, Kristen of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Leigh Anne Doolittle, Mike Kimberlin and wife, Ursala, John Kimberlin and Joy Haynes, four great grandchildren, Pamela Doolittle, Kassidy Peyton, and Emily and Jordan Kimberlin and sister, Aileen McCraven of Landis. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Harold Thomas and the Bayada nurses, Karen Andrews and Kristy Smith.
