Harold Eugene Christenbury

Mr. Harold Eugene Christenbury, 82, formerly of York Avenue, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, April 17, 2007. A graveside service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The Rev. Jeff Coppley will officiate. Family and friends will come together to visit from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service. Mr. Christenbury was born in Gaston County on June 20, 1924, a son of the late Willie Christenbury and Edna Goodson Christenbury. He was a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church and the China Grove Lions Club. A lifetime member of Poston-Perkins VFW Post 8989, he was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Italy during World War II, where he was wounded. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Wike Christenbury; and his step-mother, Mary Frye Christenbury. Survivors include a niece, Mary Jane Christenbury; a nephew, Brian Christenbury; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Brinkley.
