Harold Julian York

Mr. Harold Julian York, 85, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at Tucker Hospice House.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Lou Pfeiffer will officiate. Burial will follow the service with military honors at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 pm Sunday prior to the service at Lady's Funeral Home.

He was born on June 22, 1926 in Davidson County. He was the son of Frank Alec York and Georgia Wike York. Mr. York was a self-employed brick mason. He was very proud of Concord First Assembly of which he helped build. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Harold served proudly in the invasion of Normandy, Southern France and Okinawa. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church. Harold loved cars, Big Band Mason and playing cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee York.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Inez Childers York; daughter, Janis Johnson and husband Scott of Winston-Salem; son, Jerel York and wife Chris of Lewisville; grandchildren, Candace and husband Shea, Ronald and wife Jade and Timothy and are expecting their first great-grandchild in August; half brother, Frank York of Lynchburg, VA.
