Haskel Franklin Childers

Mr. Haskel Franklin Childers, 83, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Duane Melton and Rev. Alan Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethpage United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 pm Saturday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Childers was born on August 18, 1930 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Perry Harlen Childers and Wrenn Pennell Childers. He was a veteran of US Marines serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a self-employed auto mechanic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Rogers Childers who died in 1976; brother, Terry Childers; and a step-daughter, Charlotte Query.

Mr. Childers is survived by his wife, Irene Hartis Childers; two daughters, Lisa Childers Helms and husband Ed of Concord and Annette Everhart and husband Daniel of Mooresville; son, Dane Childers and wife Tammi of Freemont, CA; five step-children, Jill Mauney and husband Mark, and Stash Query, both of Concord, Melissa Gardner and husband Buddy of China Grove, Bob Hendricks and wife Angela of Conover and Bill Query of Augusta, GA; sister, Wanda Childers Tyner of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, Donald Duane Childers of CA; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Bethpage United Methodist Church, 109 Fellowship Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
