Helen Smith Arnette

Mrs. Helen Smith Arnette, 85, a resident of Caremoor Retirement Center and formerly of 8510 Cloverfield Drive, died Friday, January 26, 2007, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 8:00 pm Sunday, January 28, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mary Arnette will officiate. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday at Carolina Baptist Church Cemetery in Green Seas, SC. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Arnette was born January 4, 1922 in Atlantic City, NJ. She was a daughter of the late Earl Smith and Mildred Squires Smith. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Aberdeen Lounge. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Hampton, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Arnette, in 1997. Mrs. Arnette is survived by two sons, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Earl and Debra Machner and Mr. and Mrs John C. and Jackie Machner, all of Kannapolis; daughter, Ms. Lisa Bravo of Newport News, VA; three step-sons, Mr. & Mrs. Chris and Sandy Arnette, Mr. Dale Arnette, all of Kannapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy and Connie Arnette of Mt. Pleasant; two step-daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Joanna Washington of Rockwell, and Ms. Hilda Boswell of Kannapolis; eighteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
