Henry William Sonnet

April 18, 1917 — October 11, 2002

Mr. Henry William Sonnet, 85, who made his home with his daughter, Cindy Flowe, at 501 Cold Springs Road in Concord, and formerly of Park Street in Kannapolis, died Friday, October 11, 2002, at W. G. "Bill" Hefner V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury, following five years of declining health. A graveside service with burial to follow will be conducted at 4:00 PM Sunday, October 13, 2002, at Carolina Memorial Park. Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by DAV Chapter 27 of Concord. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 PM Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence. Born April 18, 1917, in North Bergen, NJ, he was a son of the late Frank Sonnet and the late Florence Schneider Sonnet. He retired several years ago from Big Star Groceries where he was a delicatessen manager. Mr. Sonnet was a member of Centerview Baptist Church, where he served the church in many capacities including, a former Sunday School teacher and choir member. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Laura "Jo" Plyler Sonnet, who died August 5, 2001. Survivors include his daughter, Cindy S. Flowe and her husband, Ray L. Flowe of the home; two sisters, Patricia Waldheld of Brickwood, NJ, Viola Hatch of Sairlann, NJ; one brother, Frank Sonnet of Beachwood, NJ; a granddaughter, Laura Flowe of the home and her fianc e, Scott Minderlein, of Concord. Memorials may be sent to Centerview Baptist Church, 415 Walter Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
