Herman Reid Sides

Mr. Herman Reid Sides, Sr., 90, of Concord, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, October 11, 2020, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Autrey will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Sides was born December 24, 1929 in Rowan County. He was a son of the late Herman Sides and Esther Rimmer Sides. He was a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church. He helped build the daycare center and the new family life center at the church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Betty Ruth Sides; five sisters, Helen Kiser, Wilma Brigman, Levay Jordan, Zelia Pope and Margaret Cagle.

Mr. Sides is survived by daughter, Myra Combs; son, H. Reid Sides, Jr.; grandson, Col. Wesley Reid Sides; two granddaughters, Sarah C. Boyd and Holly C. Fox; and seven great grandchildren, Wyatt, Hadley, Devin, William, Bailey, Harrison and Chelsea.
