Hershal Ralph Skeen

Mr. Hershal Ralph Skeen, 64, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at his home after declining health for the past year.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 26, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Barry Kemp will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 25, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Skeen was born on October 22, 1948 in Randolph County. He was the son of the late Ralph Joseph Skeen and Daffie Davis Skeen. He graduated from Trinity High School. Mr. Skeen retired as an insurance agent for Western-Southern Life Insurance Co. after 32 years of service. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Hershal loved to watch football and NASCAR racing. His greatest love was his three grandchildren. He also enjoyed walking and working outside, while his health permitted.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Skeen was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Fletcher and brothers, Grover Skeen and Mike D. Skeen.

Mr. Skeen is survived by his wife, Barbara Hilton Skeen; daughter, Angela Reid and husband Jason of Salisbury; sisters, Marie Kady and husband Wayne of Royal Oak, Michigan, Sara Burton and husband Marty of Caswell Beach and Jane Richardson and husband James of Archdale; grandchildren, Bradley Reid, Ashley Reid and Brittany Reid.
