Hidemori Fukumoto

Rev. Hidemori Fukumoto, 74, of 2107 Centergrove Road, Kannapolis, NC, died Saturday, February 28, 2004, at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord. A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Kimball Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Revs. Richard Rhoades, Hoke Ritchie, Richard Tolerico and Charles MacMurphy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. At other times they will be at the residence. Born August 1, 1929, in North Kyushu, Japan, he was a son of the late Takefusa Fukumoto and Misue Nakamura Fukumoto. He was a graduate of Japan Lutheran College and Japan Lutheran Theological Seminary. He retired after 41 years as a pastor in the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a teacher at Lutheran Christianity School in Japan. Rev. Fukumoto moved to Kannapolis seven years ago and became active at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Survivors include his wife, Toyoko Fukumoto; a niece, Atsuko Izuno of Japan; and a nephew, Kaisuke Fujito of Japan. Memorials may be sent to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, Missionary Fund or Preschool Fund, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
