Mr. Homer James Lipe, 83, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004, at Big Elm Nursing Center, following a serious illness of three months. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004, at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born May 28, 1921, in Iredell County, he was a son of the late John A. Lipe and Nancy Lou Ada Overcash Lipe. He was a US Army veteran and served in the North Africa, Normandy and Germany Campaigns during World War II. Mr. Lipe was a retired security guard. Survivors include his wife, Annie Belle Stanton Lipe; a son, James Danny Lipe of Shelby; five sisters, Grace Gregory, Nell Tedder and Pauline Westmoreland, all of Kannapolis, Mary L. Johnson of Mooresville and Faye Cook of Concord; one brother, Ray Lipe of Morganton; and two grandchildren, Kenneth Christopher Lipe of Fort Bragg, NC and James Andrew Cockrell of Fort Hood, Texas.
