Horace Rowe Butler

Mr. Horace Rowe "H. R." Butler, 90, of Sapp Road, died Sunday, December 24, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2006, at Kannapolis Church of Christ. The body will lie in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Mr. Kirk Sams will officiate. Burial will follow at Jericho Church of Christ in Mocksville. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mr. Butler. Mr. Butler was born August 23, 1916 in Mooresville. He was the son of the late Curthbert Butler and Lala McFalls Butler. He was an insurance agent for Blue Cross and Blue Shield. In 1958, he opened Carolina Bible Camp for children and served as the director for over 35 years. He was an Elder at Kannapolis Church of Christ where he was a member. He was also a member of Kannapolis Rotary Club. Mr. Butler, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ward Butler. Mr. Butler is survived by his daughter, Margo Kennerly of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Mary Margaret "Mimi"Kennerly Correll and husband, Kelly, Britton Kennerly and wife, Natalie, Brian Kennerly and wife, Jennifer, and Shannon Kennerly Gray and husband, Mark; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Memorials may be sent to Carolina Bible Camp, 1988 Jericho Church Road, Mocksville, NC 27028 or to Kannapolis Church of Christ, 2315 Concord Lake Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
