Hubert S. "Sam" Wensil, 79, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully, Sunday, September 10, 2006, and has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006, at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. The Rev. Marion Fulk and Dr. Abraham Kim will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Members of his Sunday school class will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence, 139 Wensil Lane (Turkey Rd.), Kannapolis. Born June 2, 1927, in Union County, he was the son of the late Tom and Louise Wensil. After working 48 years, he retired in 1989 from Cannon Mills (Pillowtex). He was a faithful member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Wensil. Mr. Wensil will be missed greatly by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Evelyn Troutman Wensil. He is also survived by two daughters, Janice McClure and husband, Terry, of Milledgeville, GA, Myra Parnell of Concord; one son, Ronnie Wensil and wife, Janice, of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Angie Walker, Alison Dixon, Anna Parnell and Brian Wensil; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Dixon and Austin Walker; five sisters, Faye Deal, Betty Long, Martha Kimrey, Catherine Plyler and Lorine Warren; and two brothers, Tommy Wensil and Hoye Wensil. Memorials may be sent to Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church, 6001 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or the charity of the donor's choice.
