Mrs. Ida Mavis Woodward Graham, 75, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013, at her residence after years of declining health. A funeral service is scheduled for 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Central Baptist Church. Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 pm Tuesday at Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Graham was born October 3, 1937 in Morven, NC. She was a daughter of the late Lonnie Woodward and Eddie Lewis Woodward. She was a graduate of Cedar Springs School of the Deaf and Blind in Spartanburg, SC where she was also the Homecoming Queen. Mavis was a hard working woman for Cannon Mills and retired as a sheet inspector. She was a Godly and loving mother to her children and grandchildren and was a member of Central Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Beman Graham; two brothers, Glenn and James Woodward; and son-in-law, David Warren. Mavis is survived by five daughters, Freda Chandler and husband Steve of Rockwell, Burma Warren of Kannapolis, Devon Graham of Independence, VA, Sherrie Mitchell and husband George of Harrisburg and Charlene Helms and husband Van of China Grove; four sons, Ben Graham and wife Linda of Mt. Pleasant, Roger Bass, Daniel Graham and wife Melissa and Todd Graham and wife Carla, all of Kannapolis; two sisters, Frances Duvall and husband Larry of Kannapolis and Minnie Woodward of Cheraw, SC; brother, Herman Woodward wife Becky of Kannapolis; and 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association - Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215, Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to The Walker Foundation, 335 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
