Ida Virginia Sawyer

Ida Virginia Sawyer, 79, of Concord, passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2012.

Born in Martin County, NC on February 20, 1933, Virginia was the daughter of the late Haywood and Ethel Stalls. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Gilbert Earl Sawyer, Sr. Earl and Virginia lived much of the married life in Currituck County, NC. Virginia was a vibrant, strong Christian woman who touched the lives of all who encountered her. She loved to cook, garden, travel and spend time with her family. She left her legacy of love that she generously gave to her family.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda Cole and husband, Roger, son Gene Williams and wife Debbie, daughter Margaret Zirpoli and husband Michael, daughter Jennifer Uyeda and husband Alvaro, son Earl Sawyer and wife Dee, daughter Tammy Alexander and husband Andy, and son John. She lives on through 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is survived by a sister, Evelyn Bohn, and two brothers, Bobby and Dick Stalls.

A memorial service will be held at Westford United Methodist Church in Concord on Saturday, September 29 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 am prior to the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to either Westford United Methodist Church, 273 NC 49, Concord, NC 28025 or to the National Kidney Foundation, 4819 Park Road Suite C, Charlotte, NC 28209-3842.
