Irene Troutman Foutz, 92, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. Rev. Janice Wensil and Rev. David Raiford will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Monday, August 19, 2013 at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Foutz was born on June 14, 1921 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late John M. Troutman and Esther Yost Troutman. She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon Mills after 47 years of work in the sewing room. Mrs. Foutz was an active lifetime member of Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church. in her younger years, she was a pianist for almost a decade and taught Sunday school in the youth department. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women's group and was appointed president of the Willing Workers Circle for 8 years and was vice president for another 17 years. Mrs. Foutz was a member of the W.W.C. Sunday school class and was a member of the Sunshine Group unitil her health made it impossible to continue.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bernard Foutz on January 18, 1987; stepson, Billy Gene Foutz; sister, Viola Stancil; and four brothers, Homer Troutman, Bernard Troutman, Ray Troutman and George Troutman.

Mrs. Foutz is survived by her son, Johnny Lee Foutz of Kannapolis; three granddaughters, Andrea Nicole Payne and husband Matthew of Covington, GA and Emily Catherine Foutz and Jaqueline Lindsey Foutz of Charlotte; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Grace Graham of Kannapolis and Mildred Arrowood of Concord.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Mitchell United Methodist Church, 6001 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
