Ivy Winifred Barran

Mrs. Ivy Winnifred Counter Barran, 103, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Avante at Concord.

A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2013, at the home of a granddaughter, Lori Zalys, 6535 Stirewalt Road, Kannapolis.

Mrs. Barran was born December 14, 1909 in Edinburgh, England. She enjoyed playing the organ, especially for her family and liked to knit. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Barran; and son, Ken Barran.

Mrs. Barran is survived by four granddaughters, Lori Zalys and Lynn Marshall, both of Kannapolis, Lisa Denney of Concord and Krystal Barran of Delray Beach, FL; six great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Lois Smith.
