Mr. James Louis Beam, Sr., 78, passed away Thursday, September 28, 2017, in the Liberty Lane Hospice House at the W. G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury.
A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor, Rev. Christopher Stout officiating. Interment with military honors will be 11:00 am Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:00 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home prior to the service.
Mr. Beam was born June 2, 1939 in Shelby, NC. He was a son of the late Louis Beam and Etta Scott Beam Eaves. James was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Calvin Lee Beam, Emmit Griffin and Ivory Joe Wray.
Mr. Beam is survived by his wife, Katherine Vaughn Beam; four daughters, Suedenia Beam Carr, Catherine Beam Rouse and husband Chris, Misty Beam Roberts and husband Cleveland and Wendy Beam-Leach and husband Reginald; son, James Beam, Jr.; three brothers, Larry Wray, Vigor "Fella" Beam and Jerry Beam and wife Ebony; eight sisters, Melania Hodge and husband Sam, Janice "Dusty" Wray, Cynthia "Red" Wray, Denise Pettis and husband Dennis, Gwendolyn Thompson and husband Ed, Priscilla Adams and husband Michael, Zinnie Brooks and husband Bernard and Kathy Beam; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
