James Burdett Claggett

Mr. James Burdett Claggett, 83, of Coleman Drive, Charlotte, died Friday, October 23, 2009 at Avante at Concord. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Larry Heath and Bill Poalillo will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Born May 4, 1926 in Smith County, Kansas, Mr. Claggett was the son of the late William Claggett, Sr. and Chrissy Rogers Claggett. He retired as the head of maintenance for the University of Denver. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Lou Austin Claggett; a daughter, Kimberley Poalillo and husband Bill of Charlotte; one sister, Georgia Hampton of Denver, Colorado; two grandchildren, Justin Shockley and wife Emily, Brooke Powell and husband Chad; and three great-grandchildren, Mercades Shockley, Ruby Shockley and Olive Ambra Sabey-Vogele.
