James William Daily

Mr. James William Daily, Jr., 89, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015, at his residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ryan Hodgins and Pastor/Evangelist John Earnhardt will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm Sunday at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mr. Daily was born April 5, 1925 in Mattoon, IL. He was the son of the late James William Daily, Sr. and Ira Maude Shain Daily. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the Pacific Theater including Iwo Jima during World War II as a radio operator. Before his retirement, he was the owner of Daily Manufacturing. He was member of the Salisbury Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Mary Jo Young Daily in 2012; and grandson, Donovan Daily.

Mr. Daily is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" Shain Daily of Rockwell and Catherine "Kitty Jo" Daily Allen and husband, William of San Jose, CA; two sons, James William Daily, III and wife Ruth of Kannapolis and Richard A. Daily and wife Sherry of Cary; sister, Geraldine Domzalski of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Jimmy Daily, Anne Daily, Jackie Edwards and husband Jonathan, Lisa Allen, Amanda Demsky and husband Steve, Michael Daily and fiancée Heather Tonnesburg, Josh Stewart and Lorena Daily wife of the late Donovan Daily; and two great granddaughters, Emily Nicole Daily and Katlyn Penelope “Penny” Dawn Edwards.
