James Aubrey Elwood

Mr. James Aubrey Elwood, 78, of 4240 Shiloh Church Road, Davidson, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at his home. A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Born September 11, 1929 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Ebb Harmon Elwood and Ethel Petrea Elwood. James retired after 40 years of service from Cannon Mills, where he was a loom fixer. He later owned and operated a small-engine repair service. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. His wife, Mildred Starnes Elwood, preceded him in death on June 5, 1989. He is survived by his son, Gary D. Elwood and fianc e, Doreen Durenleau, and her children, Tyler Wayne DeGuise, Casey Brian DeGuise and Joshua James Clark. Other survivors include three grandchildren, Angela Gean Elwood, Maranda Ashley Elwood and Jennifer Ann Elwood; and a great-granddaughter, Madeline Loyd.
