James Julius Hargett

Mr. James Julius Hargett, Sr., 78, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Tucker Hospice House.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:30 pm Friday, November 23, 2012, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Mike Roper will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Harrisburg.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2:15 pm Friday.

Mr. Hargett was born September 30, 1934 in Union County, NC. He was a son of the late Charles Edward Hargett and Hessie Opal Aldridge Hargett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a truck driver.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Hargett Sellers and a brother, Charles Ray Hargett.

Mr. Hargett is survived by his wife, Dora Evelyn Fisher Hargett; one daughter, Opal Hargett Valentine of Salisbury; four sons, James Julius Hargett, Jr. of Concord, David Lynn Hargett of Mountain City, TN, Ronald Wayne Hargett of Salisbury and Donald Eugene Hargett of Kannapolis; two brothers, Brice Hargett of Maryville, TN and Donald Hargett of Kannapolis; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
