Mr. James Alan Hoke, 42, of 309 E. Universal Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, August 11, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dwayne Barber will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Born June 28, 1964, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of Gwyneria Lloyd Hoke and the late Alvin Meloy Hoke, who died in 1989. A graduate of A. L. Brown High School, he was formerly self-employed as a pipe-fitter, sandblaster and painter. Survivors include his mother, Gwyn Hoke, with whom he made his home; a daughter, Bethany Jolene Hoke of Troutman; step-daughter, Amber Hoke of Miami, Florida; two sisters, Virginia Ann Brown and husband, Johnny, of Concord, Lana Kennedy and husband, Tim, of Davidson; two brothers, Michael Hoke and wife, Diane, of Kannapolis, Steven Hoke and wife, Tammy, of China Grove; nine nieces and nephews; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
