James Walter "Jim" Landis, Sr. of Waterview Drive Concord, passed away Tuesday July 12, 2005 at NorthEast Medical Center. He was born November 14, 1941 in Kulpsville, PA, a son of the late Melvin Fox Landis, Sr. and Anna Mae Haines Landis. Mr. Landis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kannapolis, NC. He served his country as a member of the US Army. He was a loving husband, father and friend. He was a truck driver for over 15 years and retired from West Brothers Transportation in 2004. He was also the proprietor of the Kulpsville Tavern in Kulpsville, PA for many years. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jessie Midnight Landis; and his sons, James W. Landis Jr. and Joseph C. Midnight Landis. He is also survived by his brothers, Gerald Landis of Ambler, PA, John Landis of Mesa, AZ, Robert Landis and his sister, Susan Landis Hackett, both of Lansdale, PA. He also leaves behind 33 nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Melvin Landis and Dennis Landis. The family of Mr. Landis will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. A memorial service and interment will follow at a later date in Lansdale, PA. The family thanks all the doctors, nurses and care partners at NorthEast Medical Center for their compassionate care during his short illness. Lady's Funeral Home is helping the family of Mr. Landis with arrangements.
