Mr. James Clyde Peeler, Jr., 76, passed away Monday, May 27, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at later date.
Jim was born February 7, 1948 in Concord to James Clyde Peeler, Sr. and Wilma Readling Peeler. He was raised in Kannapolis, graduated from AL Brown High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. After a long career in textiles with Fieldcrest-Cannon, he worked for and retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He was a long time member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. His love for music was unparalleled, and he not only reveled in the melodies but knew when every song was written, recorded and who sang it first. He was an avid Tarheel fan, a proud grandfather, a master griller, and treated his pets like they were his children.
Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Paulette Alexander Peeler; daughter Lauren Hood and husband David of Raleigh; son, Adam Peeler of Kannapolis; sister, Teresa P. Alwood of Port Charlotte, FL; and his two grandchildren Lila and Charlie Hood.
Memorials may be sent to Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, 101 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
