Mr. James Wayne Ray, 56, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis.

Wayne was born November 18, 1969 in Concord. He was a son of Wayne Hampton Ray of Kannapolis and the late Theresa Lambert Ray. Wayne was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, Class of 1988. He was self employed as a Carpenter.

In addition to his father, Wayne is survived is survived by two sons, Brandon Childress of Kannapolis and Elijah Matthew Ray of South Carolina; daughter, Gracie Marcum of West Virginia; brother, Bill Roscoe Ray of Kannapolis; sister, Denise (Rob) Eudy of Albemarle; and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Kannapolis Health and Rehabilitation for their care of Wayne during his declining health.

The family will hold a private ceremony at a later date.
