James Foy Sims

James Foy "Bud" Sims, 90, of 5833 Circlewood Drive, Kannapolis, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at NorthEast Medical Center. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2005, at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. Dr. Steven L. Mowery and the Rev. Amy Busick will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Monday at Bethpage Presbyterian Church. At other times, the family will be at the home. Born Sept. 2, 1914, in Kannapolis, he was a son of the late John and Etta Sims. He was retired from Cannon Mills machine shop after 45 years of service. He was an active member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church, where he served as elder and church secretary. He was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan. Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Marie Fisher Sims; a daughter, Jean Sims Kirkman of Kannapolis; a sister, Laura Sims Brown of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Deborah K. Triece and husband, Randy, William Douglas Kirkman Jr. and wife, Glenda, and Danny Foy Kirkman and wife, Elizabeth; and eight great-grandchildren, Brook Kirkman Iosue, Ross Kirkman, Ryan Kirkman, Doug Kirkman, Rebecca Kirkman, Tanner Triece, Madison Kirkman and Meredith Kirkman.
