James Avery Starnes

Mr. James Avery Starnes, 62, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, in Salisbury.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, March 18, 2024, at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. George Morris will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 pm Monday at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church.

Mr. Starnes was born December 29, 1961 in Mooresville. He was a son of Gary Starnes and the late Clara Hafford Akers. Mr. Starnes formerly worked for Phillip Morris.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Darrell Allen Wright; and brother, William Allen Starnes.

In addition to his father, Mr. Starnes is survived by a sister, Donna Starnes Wright and husband Joey of Kannapolis; brother, Gary Alvin Starnes of Salisbury; nieces, Christy Anthony and Stacey Morris; and a number of great nieces and nephews; and great-great nephews.
