James Worth Vanderburg

Mr. James Worth Vanderburg, 83, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church. Rev. Jennifer Ginn, Rev. Brooks Seaford and Rev. P. Douglas Small will officiate. Interment is scheduled for 4:00 pm Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord. Military Honors will be provided by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 pm Thursday at Cross and Crown Lutheran Church.

Mr. Vanderburg was born November 3, 1933 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Worth Franklin Vanderburg and Martha Ellen Harrington Vanderburg. He was a member of Cross and Crown Lutheran Church, Mint Hill Masonic Lodge # 742 and the Shriner's Club. Mr. Vanderburg was an Army veteran, having served as an MP in Germany.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, James Anthony Vanderburg.

Mr. Vanderburg is survived by wife, Mary Martha Wentz Vanderburg; two brothers, Warren Howard Vanderburg of Concord and John Wayne Vanderburg of Chapel Hill; sister, Cathy Chilton of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
