James Nathaniel White

March 12, 1935 — July 19, 2012

Mr. James Nathaniel White, 77, known to many people as the "Pecan Man", passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Tucker Hospice House.

A funeral service is scheduled 3:00 pm Monday, July 23, 2012, at Centerview Baptist Church where he was a member. Rev. Willie Rash will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Pallbearers for Mr. White will be Brandon White, Jason Jarrell, Josh Reid, Chris Reid, Kevin White and Deno White.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. White was born March 12, 1935 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of Kate Treece White of Kannapolis and the late Comus Cleo White. James was a graduate of Winecoff High School, class of 1954. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was the President and owner of Precision Metal Fabricators, Inc. of Charlotte. James loved old cars, especially his 1948 Studebaker. He enjoyed going to car shows and was a fan of NASCAR racing. James was a Charter Member of Mt. Mitchell Volunteer Fire Department The National Studebaker Club and the National Chevrolet Car Club.

His grandchildren were his pride and joy and enjoyed watching them play sports.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart, Betty Shepherd White; two daughters, Beverly Jarrell and husband "Squeek" of Concord and Tina Reid and husband "Buck" of Kannapolis; son, Keith White and wife Cheryl of Gold Hill; two brothers, Jerry White of Alabama and Wayne White of Kannapolis; six grandchildren, Brandon White, Meredith White, Jason Jarrell, Amanda Faulkner, Josh Reid and Chris Reid; seven great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the Oncology Department of CMC-NorthEast and to Dr. Christopher Jones for the care and compassion that Mr. White received during his illness. The family also wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Tucker Hospice House.
