James Edward Worstell I

May 2, 1942 — April 15, 2018

Mr. James "Big Jim" Edward Worstell, I, 75, passed from the loving arms of his family into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Bill Coughlin will officiate. Interment is scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday at Salisbury National Cemetery with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 am Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Worstell was born May 2, 1942 in Irwin, OH. He was a son of the late Charles Worstell and Lucretia Woodworth Worstell. Jim loved spending time with his large family, playing with his cat Buddy, and watching MAS*H on TV. He enjoyed mowing and tinkering around in his yard. He drove a truck for over 40 years, traveling many highways across the country. He taught truck driving for a couple of years before the pull of the road took him back to driving. He was proud to have served his country as a Sgt. in the Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, David Worstell; brothers, Donald, Richard and Max; and sisters, Barb, Marilyn and Phyllis.

He will forever be missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Patricia Dangerfield Worstell; his brother, Eugene Worstell and wife Francis; and his children, Donna Lawson, Canda Hilton, Lucretia Bryan and husband Bill, Kim Carr and husband Dave, James Worstell, II and wife Lisa, Charles Worstell and wife Karen, Rebecca Fortner and husband Rodney, Tiffany Worstell, Anthony Dangerfield and wife Melinda, Carl Dangerfield and fiancée Teresa McCabe, Dale Dangerfield and wife Brenda, Chris Dangerfield and wife Melissa, Trish Smith and husband Wesley and James Dangerfield and wife Ashlee. He was a grandpa to 38 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Landis First Assembly of God, 302 E Corriher Street, Landis, NC 28088.
