Janice Marie Talbert Barnhardt, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

A private service will be conducted at a later date at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens.

Janice was born on February 12, 1952, in Mooresville. She was the daughter of Joe Dixon Talbert and Dorothy Elizabeth Murph Lisk. Throughout her life, Janice-fondly known as Jan-was a beacon of unwavering love and devotion to her family, exemplifying kindness, warmth, and strength in everything she did.

Jan dedicated herself to her family as a homemaker, creating a nurturing and welcoming home where all felt cherished. She found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially through her passion for cooking and baking. Her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of her favorite recipes, and her loved ones will remember her uncanny ability to bring comfort and happiness with every meal she prepared.

Janice’s love extended beyond her home. She was an avid beachgoer, drawing serenity and contentment from the sound of waves and the thrill of casting a line while fishing. Her fondness for cats was well known, and she found companionship and delight in the company of her feline friends. Her faith was also an integral part of her life; as a devoted member of the Baptist faith, she drew strength, guidance, and solace from her beliefs.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Joe Talbert, David Lynn Talbert.

Above all, Jan’s unconditional love for her family was the foundation of her life. Jan is survived by her loving husband, David Wilson Barnhardt; daughter, Diana Holcomb (J.D.) of Concord; son, David W. Barnhardt, (Christopher Spry) of Denver, NC; and three grandchildren, Jacey, Weston, and Spencer.
