Ms. Jaynell Benton Rimer, 77, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014, at her residence.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Mullis and Rev. Buck Canup will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 pm Thursday prior to the service at Lady's Funeral Home and immediately following services at Wesbury, 200 Bishop Lane, Apt. 213, Concord.
Ms. Rimer was born November 19, 1936 in Madison County, GA. She was a daughter of the late Roy Gilliam Benton and Mary Ellen Graham Benton. “Nellie” as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was an excellent mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her entire life was devoted to the love and care of her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and spending time with her family. She was retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon. She attended Concord Lake Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Dean Severt; two brothers, Marelle “Bob” Benton and John B. Benton.
Ms. Rimer is survived by a daughter, Sheila Kindley and husband Michael G. of Mt. Pleasant; four sons, Martin “Marty” Luther Rimer, III and wife Annette, Bobby Severt and wife Cindy, Rick Severt and wife Laura and Jeff Severt, all of Concord; three sisters, Dorothy Hampton of Concord, Linda Barnhardt and Sondra Hager, both of Kannapolis; four brothers, Ray Benton of Gold Hill, Roy Benton of Greenville, SC, Rudolph Benton of Pageland, SC and Marvin Benton of Panama City, FL; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and special friend of the family, Johnny Stubbs of China Grove..
