Jean Carolyn Clark

Mrs. Jean Carolyn Clark, 79, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, February 21, 2016.

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at West Concord Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Farley will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at Lady’s Funeral Home. The body will lie in-state for 30 minutes prior to the service.

Mrs. Clark was born on May 28, 1936 in Cabarrus County. She was a graduate of the Concord High School Class of 1954. She was the daughter of the late William Jackson Stancil and Maxie Lois Barrier Stancil. Carolyn served faithfully at West Concord Baptist Church, along with her late husband James, for decades. She taught Sunday school for many years and was always ready to step in and help where needed. Carolyn excelled in two areas of ministry, the nursery and the Sr. Adult Happy Heart ministry. She and James served many years lovingly caring for the babies at the church.

Carolyn succeeded to the presidency of our Happy Hearts group when Hallie Gray stepped down. She served there very effectively for around 10 years. During her tenure she made the Sr. Adult ministry mobile by being the first leader to set up numerous trips for our seniors to enjoy. In the words of her Pastor, Mike Farley, “She had a wonderful "We can do that" spirit. She is dearly loved and treasured by the WCBC family.”

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Clark, Sr. and a brother, Bill Stancil.

Mrs. Clark is survived by her two sons, James “Jimmy” Clark, Jr. and wife Robin and Tony Clark and wife Wanda; brother, Joseph Stancil; four grandchildren, Christie Yow, Jerrod Clark, Jake Clark, and Angel Baker; and two great grandchildren, Dakota Yow and Aryana Baker.
