Jean Upright Dewitt

Jean Upright DeWitt, 63, of 3104 Dylan Place NW, Concord, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at God's Church of Faith, 811 Elm Street, Kannapolis. The Rev. Jeff Upright and the Rev. Tim Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. At other times, they will be at their respective homes. Born April 30, 1946 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Upright and Irene Rimer Upright. A world-class beautician, Jean owned and operated Dynasty One Hair Design in Kannapolis. She was a member of God's Church of Faith. Jean was preceded in death by her son, David Wayne White, who died January 8, 1989. Survivors include her husband, Andrew R. "Andy" Dewitt; a daughter, Kimberly Wood of Concord; two stepdaughters, Heather Lynne DeWitt of Loris, SC and Erin Shea DeWitt of Smithfield, VA; a stepson, Sean Paul DeWitt of Smithfield, VA; five sisters, Carolyn Bentley and husband Jim and Phyllis Thompson and husband Bobby, all of Mooresville, Joyce Bowden and husband Sidney and Mildred Lawing and husband Ronald, all of Kannapolis, Betty Morgan and husband Clyde of China Grove; one brother, Bud Upright and wife Peggy of Kannapolis; five grandchildren, Candice, Jennifer, Keyth DeWitt, Gavin Ross DeWitt and Ethan Brooks DeWitt; and six great-grandchildren.
