Obituary

Mr. Jeffrey Lynn Tilley, 66, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Bill Roberts will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 12:45 pm Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Jeffrey was born February 29, 1960 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Delton Ray Lee Tilley and Margaret Juanita Harrington Tilley. He retired as an officer with the Landis Police Department after previously serving with the China Grove Police Department. He loved his family dearly and lived his life devoted to both his family and the Lord. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones, especially celebrating holidays together and making memories with his family. He enjoyed working with his tractor, gardening, and canning the vegetables he grew in his garden. He had a special love for all types of animals and enjoyed traveling to the mountains, especially trips to Tweetsie Railroad. He also enjoyed watching old horror movies and television shows and could often be found working in his shop at home, where there seemed to be nothing he couldn't fix. Above all, he cherished the simple moments, especially sitting on the porch with his beloved wife, Becky, enjoying each other's company.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Frye; father-in-law, Paul Cook; and two nieces, Adrianna Douglas and Sarah Cook.

Jeffrey is survived by wife, Ellen Rebecca "Becky" Tilley; three sons, Steven Tilley of Kannapolis, Justin Tilley of Granite Quarry, Austin Tilley and fiancée Chloe Beck; two sisters, Patricia Douglas and husband Gentle and Deborah Patterson; two grandsons, T.J. Tilley and Brock Tilley; and a granddaughter Allie Tilley. Additional family include his mother-in-law, Pat Childress and husband Ken; sister-in-law, Donna Cook; five nieces Ramona Douglas, Cynthia Douglas, Samantha Tilley, Sarah Patterson, Courtney Tilley; and a nephew, Gentle Douglas.

Memorials may be sent to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
