Jenny Dee Smith

Ms. Jenny Dee Smith, 62, of 6930 John Deere Drive, Sherrills Ford, NC, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. The Rev. Curtis Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of her mother, LaTrelle Smith, 706 Rogers Lake Road, Kannapolis. Born June 2, 1940, she was a daughter of LaTrelle F. Smith of Kannapolis and the late W. C. Fowler. She retired as the director of nursing from Lincolnton Hopsital in Lincolnton. She graduated in 1958 from A. L. Brown High School and was the 1962 valedictorian of Rowan Tech School of Nursing. She formerly worked in the medical field at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord, and was director of nursing at the hospital in Kingstree, South Carolina. Jenny was also an avid bingo player. Survivors include her mother, LaTrelle F. Smith; two daughters, Rebecca Roberts of Macon, GA and Angie Smith of Denmark, SC; a son, James R. Roberts, Jr. of Kannapolis; a brother, Jimmy Hester and his wife, Kathy, of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Brandon Roberts of Kannapolis and Caitlin Weatherman of Macon, GA; a niece, Mona Smith of North Myrtle Beach, SC; and two nephews, Greg Moore and Patrick Moore of North Myrtle Beach, SC.
